Reading this may just change your life...

Are you passionate about shaping the future generation? Do you believe in the power of education, adventure, and leadership development? Are you a kid at heart who enjoys getting out and about in the countryside? Do you have some time to volunteer?

If the above resonates with you, come and join us in making an amazing impact on young lives by volunteering with our Scout group.

At Cranham Scout Group, we provide a nurturing environment where our 72 young individuals from Cranham, Painswick, Sheepscombe, Birdlip, Bisley and Slad can learn, grow, and thrive. Our programs are designed to instill essential life skills, foster teamwork, and promote a sense of responsibility and community service. However, none of this would be possible without the invaluable support of our volunteers.

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals, willing to dedicate their time, and talents to our cause. Not all roles are uniformed and reliant on availability at set times. Whether you have a specific skillset to share or simply a passion for making a difference, there are countless ways for you to get involved:

1. Section team members: (Uniformed leaders) The Section Team plans, delivers, and runs high-quality programmes safely. They make sure all young people can take part in the programme and gain skills for life. They also help young people work towards their top awards. With a brilliant programme, each young person can make a positive impact in society as they step up, speak up, and find their place in the world.

2. Committee members: The committee is a team of volunteers who work together, to make sure the Scout group is run safely and legally. At the heart of their role is a focus on strategy, performance and assurance. Effective governance helps our volunteers deliver fantastic programmes that give young people skills for life

3. Administrative Support: Help with administrative tasks such as communication, record-keeping, and logistics coordination. Your behind-the-scenes efforts will keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently.

4. Group Leadership Team: The Group Leadership Team helps volunteers across all Sections (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) to work well together and feel motivated. They make sure the Group is respected and supported in their local community

5. Specialised Skills: If you have a particular skill or hobby that you're passionate about, we welcome your expertise! Whether it's arts and crafts, outdoor survival skills, or STEM activities, your unique talents can enrich our programs and inspire our Scouts.

No matter your background or experience level, there's a place for you in our Scout group. The Scout Association provide training and support for all volunteers. Volunteering with us is not only a rewarding experience with opportunities to learn and experience new skills but a chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people in our community.

If you're ready to join us we would love to hear from you! Please contact Charlie Overs on 07977509848 to learn more about volunteering opportunities with Cranham Scout Group or come and see us in action on Wednesday 22nd May at our presentation and AGM evening at Cranham Scout HQ from 5:45pm.

Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for our youth.

….and If you need a further push: Studies have shown that volunteering is beneficial at combatting stress, depression and anxiety. It can also help to keep you mentally stimulated, improve your self-confidence and provide you with a sense of purpose.
