Sowing the seeds of learning...

Abbey Home Farm trip

On Thursday 2nd March, Hazel Class were invited to visit Abbey Home Farm in Cirencester to learn more about how things grow and where our food comes from. Our wonderful guide Maya showed us the farm, which was completely organic! We saw all of the different animals, and learnt about the differences between animals for breeding and animals for eating. We saw the on-site butchers and learnt how the eggs were weighed and sorted once they had been collected.

We absolutely loved looking around the vegetable garden and we were lucky to be able to taste some food! We tried different types of spinach, rocket, coriander and saw the tiny shoots of plants and vegetables that they were starting to grow.

Hazel Class definitely loved seeing the cows the most, and we got the chance to even give some of them a stroke!

It was a lovely day and we came back knowing so much more about how we can grow our own food.
