Year 5/6 Rounders Tournament

9/6/23

On Friday 9th June 2023, ten children took to Stonehouse to compete in a rounders tournament comprised of 23 teams from around Stroud.

Our day started off with a learning curve, losing 5.5 - 3.5 in our first game. From this, we learnt from our mistakes and came up with a plan to come back stronger. This worked well as we won 8 - 3.5 in the second game. Our confidence was now beginning to flow. Our third match saw us face (unbeknownst to us) the eventual winners of the competition - we battled hard, but lost 11 - 2.

This left us waiting anxiously to find out where our competition headed next. We were in 13th place at this stage and were placed into the shield competition with two tough games. But by now, the children were really in their stride winning their two games 6 - 4 and 6.5 - 5.5 to finish the day in 12th position.

Throughout the tournament, the children all showed tremendous courage to compete against other schools, and they were commended by onlookers for their compassion supporting each other, as well as being sporting to their opponents.

See how we got on in the gallery below.
